Thailand observes Songkran with Buddha bathing rituals
BANGKOK, Apr 14 (EFE/EPA).— Thais marked the Songkran festival on Tuesday by performing traditional rituals at temples in Bangkok.Devotees bathed Buddha statues (ritual cleansing for purification) and carried sand to build pagodas as part of merit-making activities.The festival, which celebrates the Thai New Year, is recognised by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage.
