Srinagar sees busy markets ahead of Eid al-Fitr celebrations

Srinagar, India, Mar 19 (EFE/EPA).- People visited markets in Srinagar, Kashmir, on Thursday to shop ahead of the Eid al-Fitr holiday, which marks the end of Ramadan.

Eid al-Fitr is one of the most important Islamic holidays, celebrated by Muslims worldwide to mark the end of Ramadan, the month of fasting, prayer and reflection, and is traditionally observed with communal prayers, charity and festive meals shared with family and friends. It is common for several countries to determine the end of Ramadan on different days, as it is based on the sighting of the moon. Eid al-Fitr celebrations last three days and begin at the end of the holy month. (Camera: FAROOQ KHAN).
