PHILIPPINES STRIKE

Philippines sees transport strike over fuel prices

Quezon City, Philippines, Apr 15 (EFE/EPA).- Local jeepney and minibus unions known as jeepneys in the Philippines began a three-day transport strike on Wednesday to demand lower fuel prices and the removal of excise and value-added taxes on petroleum products.

The escalation of the conflict in the Middle East has driven up fuel prices worldwide, significantly impacting costs in the Philippines, which ranks among the countries in Asia with the highest increases in petroleum product prices. (Camera: ROLEX DELA PENA).
