Atletico fans left devastated after losing title on penalties

Madrid, Apr 18 (EFE).- Atletico Madrid fans left the Metropolitano stadium in silence and despair after seeing the Copa del Rey slip away in a penalty shootout following a dramatic final in which Diego Simeone’s side managed to level the score twice through goals from Ademola Lookman and Julian Alvarez and even came close to turning it around when “La Araña” hit the crossbar during extra time. Watching the match in Seville on nine giant screens set up pitchside, more than 35,000 Atletico supporters gathered at the Metropolitano on Saturday, choosing to share the experience together rather than at home as they followed their team’s attempt to win the Copa del Rey for the first time in 13 years.
