Caracas, Apr 4 (EFE).- Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado urged citizens on Easter Saturday to continue moving forward together in Venezuela's "rebirth" into freedom, stating that their suffering has not been in vain because they are close to "the return to life."

"We have suffered and lost much, but our pain is transformed into hope today because we understand that our suffering has not been in vain and that we are close to the return to life," the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize laureate said in a post on X. (Camera: HANDOUT).

Dear Venezuelans,

This Holy Week is the opportunity to renew our faith, and to connect with the deep meaning of every sacrifice made out of love. By looking at Jesus on the Cross, we know that the light of the Resurrection is very close.

We have suffered and lost much, but our pain today is transformed into hope because we understand that our suffering has not been in vain and that we are close to the return to life.

The cross that Venezuela carries today weighs on the shoulders of every family that has mourned the departure of a child, of every persecuted, imprisoned, and defamed person, of every neighbor who has resisted in extreme precariousness, and of every young person determined to live with dignity.

From that resistance, our strength is also born: the intimate bond between us, the living relationship of a people that has traveled this journey together and that will remain united to see the dawn of our land.

We will continue to sustain ourselves always in the faith and love that unite us in a solidary commuity, and that give shape to the soul of this great nation.

Let us continue advancing together in this rebirth of Venezuela in Freedom.
