Local minibus unions launch transport strike in Philippines
QUEZON CITY (Philippines), 15/04/2026.- Commuters wait for public transport for their respective destinations along a main thoroughfare in Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines, 15 April 2026. Two local jeepney, or minibus, unions launched a three-day transport strike on 15 April to call for a rollback in fuel prices and the scrapping of excise and value-added taxes on petroleum products. The ongoing Middle East conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran has significantly impacted fuel costs in the Philippines, which ranks among the highest in Asia in surges of petroleum product prices.
