Thailand marks New Year with traditional water festival
BANGKOK, Apr 13 (EFE/EPA).— People celebrated on Monday the Songkran festival in Bangkok, marking the Thai New Year with traditional water fights.Participants gathered on major streets to splash water, symbolising purification and the washing away of bad luck from the past year.The festival, recognised by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage, remains one of Thailand’s most iconic cultural celebrations.
