Taiwan conducts earthquake, tsunami alert drill ahead of National Disaster Prevention Day

Keelung, Sep 20 (EFE).- The Taiwanese government issued earthquake and tsunami alerts on Friday, briefly interrupting television and radio programming for a couple of minutes, aiming to improve the population’s preparedness for the natural disasters the island frequently faces.

These drills, held as part of the National Disaster Prevention Day, which is observed on Saturday, began today at 9:21 a.m. (01:21 GMT) with an earthquake alert sent to mobile phone users. (Camera: JAVIER CASTRO).
