Seoul, Sep 18 (EFE/EPA).- International Equal Pay Day, observed on Wednesday, highlighted ongoing efforts to close the global gender pay gap due to longstanding inequalities and challenges in achieving equal pay for women. According to data by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), South Korea remains at the bottom of the OECD for gender wage inequality, with a 31.2 per cent pay gap in 2022, more than twice the OECD average of 11.6 per cent. Says Kim Yeong-hee, who has worked at Homeplus for 17 years, “Women in Homeplus sales roles lack career benefits, leading to little wage progression over time”.
