Scotland's chief minister prepares to negotiate a referendum with next central government

Glasgow (UK), Jul 3 (EFE) - On the eve of the general elections in the United Kingdom, the chief minister of Scotland, John Swinney, is preparing for a new political battle: to negotiate with the next central government a referendum for Scotland to control its own future, he said in an interview with EFE.

Swinney, 60 years old and with more than 40 in the ranks of the formation, was finance minister in the government of Alex Salmond (2007-2014) and deputy chief minister with Nicola Sturgeon (2014-2023), and now leads the Scottish National Party (SNP), founded in 1934, which defines itself as social democratic.
