Colombo, Sep 21 (EFE).- Polling stations in Sri Lanka opened Saturday morning for voting in the country's first presidential election since the 2022 crisis, a key election for the economic recovery of this indebted island nation and in which there is no clear favorite.

The 13,421 voting centers opened at 7 am (01:30 GMT), and will close at 4 pm, according to the Sri Lankan Election Commission, which said that more than 17 million people were eligible to vote in these elections, in which the winner may not be known until Sunday morning.
