Mumbai's Hindus celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi

Mumbai (India), Sep 11 (EFE/EPA) - Dozens of Hindus submerged idols of the elephant-headed Hindu god Ganesha in the Arabian Sea as part of a ritual at Juhu beach in Mumbai.

The Ganesh Chaturthi festival lasts ten days and is celebrated throughout India.

During the Ganpati festival, which is celebrated on the birthday of Lord Ganesha, idols of the Hindu deity are worshipped in hundreds of pandals or makeshift tents before being submerged in bodies of water.
