New Māori monarch named as king laid to rest in New Zealand

Ngāruawāhia, Sep 5 (EFE).- The 27-year-old daughter of New Zealand’s late Māori king has been crowned the new monarch of Māoridom, becoming the second woman in the eight-dynasty reign to hold the position.

Kuini (Queen) Ngā Wai hono i te po is the youngest child and only daughter of Kiingi Tuheitia Pootatau Te Wherowhero VII, who died in his sleep at the age of 69 last Friday while recovering from heart surgery. (Camera: HANDOUT).
