India celebrates birth anniversary of Ambedkar with public event
MUMBAI, India, Apr 14 (EFE/EPA).— People took part on Tuesday in a bike rally in Mumbai to mark the 135th birth anniversary of Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar.Ambedkar, India’s first law minister and chief architect of the Constitution (Constitution Drafting Committee, the body that wrote the constitution), is remembered for his role in shaping the nation’s legal framework.Participants also honoured his legacy as a social reformer who fought against caste discrimination and “untouchability” (social exclusion based on caste).
