Doctors on strike over rape and murder of female doctor in India defy Supreme Court

Kolkata (India), Sep 10 (EFE/EPA).- Trainee doctors in the Indian state of West Bengal, on strike for a month over the rape and murder of a female doctor, said they would continue their protests unless authorities met their demands, defying a Supreme Court call for them to return to hospitals on Tuesday.

"We are deeply disheartened and aggrieved. We have observed that there has been no progress in the investigation into the gruesome rape and murder," the West Bengal Doctors' Training Front said in a statement on Thursday evening.
