Childhood polio vaccination at a UN school in Deir al-Balah

Deir al-Balah (Gaza), Sep 1 (EFE/EPA) - The distribution of vaccines against polio began this Saturday in the southern Gaza Strip, one day before the date announced by the World Health Organization (WHO).

The campaign aims to immunize more than 640,000 children under the age of 10 against polio after the first case of the disease was detected in the Strip - with dire sanitation conditions and a displaced and overcrowded tent population - for the first time in more than 25 years.
