São Paulo, Apr. 17 (EFE).- Brazilian basketball legend Oscar Schmidt, who held the world record for career points scored, died Friday at the age of 68 in the São Paulo metropolitan area, his family reported.Schmidt was admitted to a hospital after suffering a sudden illness at home, according to the specialized website ‘Lance!’, which was later confirmed by his press office.Although the cause of death was not disclosed, the athlete had been battling a brain tumor for 15 years.
