ACCRA (Ghana), 15/04/2026.- Ghana’s President John Dramani Mahama (C) speaks during the launch of the Free Primary Health Care Programme in Accra, Ghana, 15 April 2026. Ghana’s President launched the Free Primary Health Care Programme aimed at achieving universal health coverage. The first phase began by targeting 150 underserved districts nationwide over the next two months and by deploying of 24,534 pieces of essential medical equipment to help routine screenings for hypertension, diabetes, obesity, and various cancers as well as antenatal and postnatal care, immunisations, full treatment for malaria, diarrhoea, and respiratory infections to name but a few.
