Budapest mayor Karacsony holds a press conference on the 'Solidarity Contribution' scheme
Budapest (Hungary), 14/04/2026.- Budapest mayor Gergely Karacsony holds a press conference at the Hungarian State Treasury (MAK) building in Budapest, Hungary, 14 April 2026, two days after the Hungarian parliamentary election. Karacsony stated that Budapest will be unable to pay salaries in May if the Hungarian State Treasury continues its practice of seizing the capital city's current account in April under the so-called solidarity contribution scheme.
